It’s here. After years of development, late-night test builds, and more crawler variants than we can count — ODDCORE is officially live on Steam Early Access.
What is ODDCORE?
ODDCORE is a fast-paced first-person roguelike shooter set in a retro, liminal nightmare aesthetic. You clip through reality while watching TV at home and wake up in the ODDCORE Theme Park & Resort — a strange multidimensional hubworld run by a sentient(?) clock mascot named Timmee.
You’re now an ODDCORE runner. Your job? Keep the resort’s many rooms free from corruption. Your time limit? Five minutes.
The ticking clock demands speed and efficiency. Not even trips to the upgrade shop pause the timer. Every soul earned from defeating enemies is a decision — spend on upgrades, heal mid-combat, or buy more time. Each shop visit increases purchase costs, so there’s a persistent risk/reward tension baked into every run.
What’s in Early Access Right Now
This isn’t a bare-bones skeleton — we’ve packed the launch build:
- 13 unique weapons with dual-fire modes
- 10 specialized gadgets for movement and combat
- 70+ stackable upgrade items
- 50+ arena variants with diverse objectives
- 25+ enemy types and boss encounters
- Hub world with arcade minigames (coin pusher, slot machine, secrets)
- Sandbox level editor (experimental)
- 52 Steam achievements
- Dynamic soundtrack that modifies per run
- Option to import your own music
- Leaderboards, Steam Cloud saves, Remote Play support
All of this for $9.99 ($7.99 with the 20% launch discount).
The Aesthetic
Low-res polygonal environments that look like a corrupted PlayStation 1 disc. Malformed black-and-white demons that swarm from every direction. A poppy atmosphere contrasting with flashy horror elements. Brain-melting visual effects centered on explosive bullet physics.
This game describes itself as not taking itself any more seriously than you should.
What’s Coming Next
Early Access is planned for 6-12 months. During that time, we’re adding:
- New arena variants and enemy types
- More weapons and upgrades
- Refined visual effects and audio
- Localization (Chinese, German, Spanish, and more)
- Console release (prototyping now)
The price may increase after substantial updates — getting in now rewards early supporters.
